Offered is a beautiful antique German-American Lutheran baptismal/godparent booklet, dating approximately c. 1905–1910. This charming piece of religious ephemera was created as a keepsake for a child and their Paten (godparents).
The front cover features the German Gothic/Fraktur inscription:
“An meine lieben Paten!”
“To my dear godparents!”
The interior contains a lengthy German-language religious poem addressed to the godparents, expressing gratitude for their role in the child’s Christian upbringing, prayers, and spiritual guidance. The booklet concludes with a handwritten child/godchild signature that appears to read “Lola …”, adding an interesting personal and historical connection.
