Antique 1910 Japanese Art – Motonobu, Itcho & Morikuni
Offered here is an original antique Japanese art print dating to circa 1910, from Laurence Binyon’s Japanische Kunst, a historic European publication devoted to Japanese painting and art.
This large-format print features three remarkable compositions by important Japanese artists, printed on the front and reverse:
FRONT
Motonobu — “The Haunt of the Wild Geese”
A six-fold screen / Sechsteiliger Schirm
A beautiful panoramic composition depicting wild geese among reeds, water and flowering plants. The original artwork is presented as a six-fold Japanese screen, giving the image an impressive horizontal format.
REVERSE
Itcho — “Sage Contemplating the Moon”
A poetic Japanese scene depicting a scholar contemplating the moon.
Tachibana Morikuni — “The Chinese Master Godoshi Painting a Dragon”
A dramatic composition showing the legendary Chinese master Godoshi painting a powerful dragon.
