Up for sale is a spectacular, fully intact 1920s Egyptian Assuit (Asyut) shawl, traditionally known as Tulle-bi-telli. This piece dates directly to the Art Deco "Egyptian Revival" era following the 1922 discovery of King Tutankhamun's tomb, making it roughly a century old.

Finding an antique Assuit shawl in this state is exceptionally rare. This piece has been meticulously preserved and cared for:
* NO dry rot – the cotton mesh backing is strong, supple, and entirely stable.
* NO missing metal studs or crimped pieces.
* NO snags, pulled threads, splits
* Odor-free, stain-free, and structurally sound for immediate display, wear, or is a true work of wearable art. Every single gold-tone metal strip was hand-threaded through the black cotton mesh netting and individually hammered flat by hand in Upper Egypt. The textile has a substantial, heavy, fluid drape that pools beautifully. It catches the light magnificently with every movement.

I had this listed and had to take it down. I found a very small mesh separation. I have reduced the price significantly. See pictures. It definitely something that can be repaired. I don’t have the skill to even try.
