For sale Antique 24 Inch F8 Large Format Brass Lens, Wet Plate Era, Covers 11x14 or 12x20 Inch. The lens is from the 1890s, and there is no marking found on the brass barrel except for the aperture scale, which is marked from F8 to 64.
The lens appears to have an issue, as no image is formed when the complete lens is used. However, after removing the front cell and using only the rear lens cell, a large image forms that has a focal length of approximately 24 inches. Please consider this when purchasing.
Lens dimensions: 3½ inch height; 2¼ inch front dia; 2 inch back dia, 54mm flange id.
The back lens glass is in good condition with exception to faint cleaning marks that is consistent with age, the cleaning marks on the front glass is considerably more than on the back. The aperture diaphragm opens and closes properly. Lens comes with a partially fitting black flange.
