Antique 24\" Japanese Bisque Head Doll RE Nippon WWI Era Kid Leather BodyThe Maker\'s Mark: Distinctly incised on the back of the neck with the classic \"RE\" inside a diamond intersected by crossed arrows, along with \"Nippon\". The \"Nippon\" stamp securely dates this piece prior to the 1921 US McKinley Tariff act revision.
Head & Face: Exquisite bisque shoulder-head with blue glass sleep eyes that function smoothly and properly, painted eyelashes and eyebrows, an open mouth revealing molded upper teeth, and a beautiful brunette updo wig.
The Body: Features a premium, clean stuffed kid leather torso and limbs with metal pin-jointed shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees for realistic articulation. Lower forearms and hands are molded white bisque porcelain; the lower feet are stitched leather.
Attire: Comes dressed in a charming vintage/antique drop-waist linen dress featuring a wide collar and delicate pink zig-zag ric-rac trim.
Bisque Porcelain: No cracks, chips, or visible hairline fractures to the bisque face or shoulder plate. Porcelain hands are fully intact with no missing fingers.
Kid Leather Body: Remarkably clean, white, and structurally firm for a 100+ year old leather doll. There are no major sawdust leaks, structural collapses, or unsightly tape repairs. The seams are tight and the pin joints function.
Cosmetic Note: Light, normal age-appropriate surface patina/staining and darkening and light scuffing on the leather, which adds to its authentic antique character.
The wig shows minor stray hairs but remains styled.
