Beautiful antique Art Deco ring by Arnold & Steere Co. (A&S), a Providence, Rhode Island jewelry manufacturer known for finely detailed gold rings and gemstone mountings.
The ring is crafted in 10K white gold with an ornate pierced filigree setting and delicate floral accents surrounding a large rectangular faceted green center stone. The inside of the band is marked A&S 10K with an additional faint, worn marking that appears to read approximately “138N” or similar.
The center stone has not been professionally tested, so it is being described simply as a green gemstone. Possible identifications could include period glass, synthetic gemstone, green spinel, or another green stone. It should not be assumed to be emerald without gemological testing.
The faceting shows noticeable age and wear, giving the stone a softer, older appearance consistent with the age of the ring. The elaborate white-gold mounting, pierced shoulders and floral detailing are characteristic of the late 1920s to 1930s Art Deco period.
