• Automatic Electric Company (Chicago) Strowger-type wood wall telephone with rotary dial — the compact, self-contained wooden wall set built for early independent (non-Bell) automatic exchanges. Cataloged by Telephone Collectors International as the \"AE Wood Wall Set\"; it is the wood-era predecessor to the later metal Type 21.
• Design dates to roughly the late 1910s through the 1920s. This is a separate-transmitter-and-receiver set — a fixed transmitter cup on the front and a hook-hung receiver on the side — an earlier arrangement than the all-in-one handset \"Monophone\" phones AE introduced in 1925.
• Maker confirmed by three markings: the Automatic Electric diamond logo with \"MADE IN U.S.A.\" on the dial mechanism, the \"A\"-for-Automatic-Electric cutout on the receiver switchhook fork, and the interior condenser label.
• Condenser label reads verbatim: \"A.E. CO. / CHICAGO / CONDENSER / M.F. 2 TYPE. D-6891 / INSPECTED / Form F152 100M G. & K.\" (D-6891 is the condenser\'s part number, not the telephone\'s model.)
