Exceptional antique Chinese export evening purse dating to approximately the 1910s–1920s, richly decorated with pictorial beadwork depicting a chicken, butterflies, and flowering branches against a blue-green silk ground.
Finished with substantial cobalt blue Peking glass ring handles, decorative side tassels accented with matching Peking glass elements, and long beaded fringe. The dense handworked decoration and bold glass features give the purse a particularly striking presence and make it a strong example of early 20th-century Chinese export fashion.
Remarkably well preserved for its age, with a notably pristine interior. The silk shows scattered age-related discoloration and toning, visible in the close-up photographs, while the beadwork presents beautifully overall. A few fringe strands are missing along the lower edge.
A distinctive and highly decorative antique textile piece with excellent display appeal.
