Slightly larger than most of these in my collection, this vest nécessaire if 4 1/8" long, you can see it's the largest in the group photos at the end of photos. The silver case or etui is in exceptionally fine condition, and complete with 4 original tools: large pocket knife with 2 sharp blades and a shell handle, scissors, tweezer/ear wax spoon, and a bodkin that appears to have gold and is unusually ornate. It's missing a round handled tool, possibly a pencil, and a wafer to write upon. Most of these aren't complete, and it's actually more usual to find an etui without anything inside, so the fact that it has most of its original tools is a real plus. Full measurements noted on the photos.Very good condition for age and type. The outer case is beautiful, fully clad with silver on perhaps copper base. The deep repousee surface hasn't lost its silver anywhere, and has no bends nor dents. Hinge and clasp working and holding tight. Actually, as noted above missing 2 fittings (pencil, writing wafer) the interior is also very good, with sharp double blade on the larger-than-usual pocket knife, and only tiny hairlines if one looks very closely on the shell-clad body, those at the place where the pins pierce the shell. NOTE: photographed against colorful needlework because it helps keep the silver from 'blowing out' and allows easier lighting on photos of small objects like this one, and they are not included.

We most often use USPS for our shipping needs but will be happy to ship by another carrier if you prefer.
We charge only actual postage & insurance, never a handling fee and never for packaging materials. The shipping price, speed and handling are actually under the sole control of the delivering postal agency, not Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. As always, please also feel free to contact us if you have any problems or concerns, we'll do what we can to ensure a happy and mutually enjoyable transaction.
We always insure our items BUT, more importantly, pack them extremely well knowing that most are not replaceable. Again, damage in transit, while rare in our experience, is due to the postal agency handling and not caused by Antiques & Uncommon Treasure. Thanks!
Our shipping days are usually Monday and Friday though we do our best to ship within one to two days once paid. Otherwise, paid items will be shipped on the first shipping day after payment is received (except when special circumstances exist). We prefer to use USPS whenever possible, and require all packages to be insured. If you prefer another method of shipment, please mention it. We charge only actual expense of shipment/insurance, except in the case of larger items which must have special wood crates built. Wood crate charge, when applicable, is a flat $35.00 in addition to actual postage & insurance charges.

Sales tax is now calculated by based on your particular location. If you are within CA and are a dealer buying for resale, you must provide with your active resale certificate # and acknowledgment of intent to resell. No exceptions.
