A beautiful Antique French Napoleon III jewelry casket dating to the mid-19th century (circa 1850–1870).
The box is crafted in gilt bronze (bronze doré) and features a rare quatrefoil rococo form, richly decorated with ornate bronze scrollwork and sculptural mounts.
The lid displays a charming hand-painted oil miniature on canvas, depicting a romantic couple reading together in a pastoral setting inspired by the fête galante scenes of French Rococo art.
Inside, the casket retains its original tufted silk lining in pale blue, finished with traditional upholstery buttons typical of luxurious Napoleon III dressing table accessories.
