Antique French/Paris porcelain armorial plate featuring an elaborate heraldic design with a crown, shield, lion and unicorn supporters, ornate raised white relief decoration, floral details, and extensive gilding.The heraldic ribbons appear to read “SOLA VIRTUS INVICTA,” a Latin motto meaning approximately “Virtue alone is unconquered/invincible.”The reverse features a red Chinese/Qianlong-style mark, consistent with the use of Chinese-inspired marks on some European porcelain.Maker: Attributed to Edmé Samson & Cie., Paris. This attribution is based on the overall style and decoration; the reverse mark itself is not a definitive Samson signature.Period: Believed to be 19th century
