A magnificent antique German silver bowl featuring exceptionally detailedrepoussé, chasing, and pierced work, with a wonderfully sculptural scene of playfulputti/cherubsin the center.
The oval bowl is surrounded by an elaborate openwork border offlowers, foliage, scrolls, and Rococo-style ornament, with three decorative cartouches incorporated into the design. The level of detail is remarkable, particularly in the dimensional figures and finely worked floral border.
The piece is stamped800and bears theAMS maker's mark, which is associated withAdolf Mayer of Frankfurt am Main. The style and construction are consistent with documented Adolf Mayer silver of the late 19th/early 20th century.
