From Japan's late Meiji period, 1880-1912, a dramatic cast bronze vase with a pair of soaring, high-relief mythical Hō-ō (phoenixes).
The ground is a chocolate brown, while the applied elements and rim have a more golden color.
The vase is10" tall, 6.5" wide, and weighs5 lb 12 oz.
In excellent antique condition, with no cracks, breaks, or structural repairs observed. The top is lightly warped in one corner, shown in photo.
