A finely painted antique Japanese porcelain plate from the Meiji period (circa 1868–1912), decorated in the export figural style associated with Yokohama-decorated wares of the era — porcelain blanks hand-painted with narrative garden scenes for the Western export market. Details:

• Circular plate with a smooth, unscalloped rim edge
• Rim decorated with a painted iron-red key-fret band and gilt scrollwork, with small chrysanthemum sprigs accenting the border
• Central scene hand-painted in fine polychrome enamels: a woman in green and pink robes carrying a child on her back, walking through a garden of blossoming plum/prunus branches
• Accompanying figure of a boy in blue robes, kneeling, holding a fan or feather-duster
• Softly rendered background landscape with hills, a lake, and birds in flight — delicate, painterly brushwork typical of higher-quality Meiji figural export porcelain
• Reverse bears a hand-brushed red overglaze artist\'s signature (mei), tentatively read as 嘉平 (Kahei) — a personal decorator\'s signature rather than a standardized factory stamp. This reading is a proposed transliteration based on stroke analysis and has not yet been independently corroborated against a documented reference mark, so it should be treated as unconfirmed pending specialist verification
