Antique Master German-School American Violin By Henry Bentin, New Orleans 1902 For Sale

Appraised for 2.5k back in 2002 (see last picture).Absolutely beautiful and rare violin by a prominent maker in New Orleans made during the birth of jazz! Henry Bentin, whose father and grandfather were also violin makers, was born in Germany in 1857 and immigrated with his family to the U.S. as a child. He finished more than 200 instruments before his death in 1928 at the age of 72. He is believed to have once made a copy of the famed \"Emperor\" Stradivarius for the Czech violinist and composer Jan Kubelik, whom he had met after a New Orleans performance. His instruments are of the German-school and the appraisal states that this particular violin follows a Strad pattern.The patina on its reddish varnish is striking and has aged wonderfully. It\'s playable as is but I definitely recommend getting a new bridge as the current vintage bridge looks a little warped and weak. Would also benefit from a new nut and set of strings. The neck angle looks quite healthy, which isn\'t usually the case for older instruments that many times need a costly neck reset. Fingerboard looks great too and soundpost in place.I am offering returns as I am confident in what I am selling.
