Up for sale is a magnificent and rare antique Japanese Imari / Kutani export porcelain 'Hachi' (deep-sided serving basin or bowl). This exceptionally large, premium piece dates from the late Meiji to early Taisho period (circa 1900–1920) and was meticulously hand-decorated for the global export market.

The base features a crisp underglaze blue square seal mark reading "百田造" (Momota Zō), denoting production by the celebrated workshop of Shozaburo Momota out of Yokohama.

• Central Medallion: Features a highly stylized, asymmetrical traditional garden landscape depicting an orange zig-zag wooden fence (Yatsuhashi style), blooming orange peonies (Botan), vibrant pine branches, and visiting birds.

• Inner Rim Borders: Deep cobalt blue panels filled with elaborate geometric lattice work and delicate gold leaf (gilt) spirals.

• Exterior Wall: Beautifully wrapped with a continuous hand-painted band of underglaze blue and orange floral scrolls (Karakusa) and chrysanthemum emblems designed to be admired when resting flat on a table.

*Note on Kiln Characteristics:* There is one minor, authentic black glaze blemish on the bottom underside of the bowl (adjacent to the foot ring), which occurred naturally during the firing process over a century ago. This is an expected manufacturing characteristic of period wood-fired Japanese kilns and does not impact the structural durability or presentation value of the dish.
