Antique Mid 18thC Meissen Porcelain Floral Fork Porzellan Gabel German Germany For Sale

For sale is a rare, early small two pronged fork made by Meissen in about 1740. The handles are in the pistol grip shape with a basket weave design to the ends, some gold trim and some really nice flowers. The fork has a larger floral arrangement as well as lots of small single flowers scattered about. The metal parts are made of silver and have two hallmarks on it as shown. The hardware is original to the period I believe. One of the hallmarks I cannot make out the other looks like a lady\'s head with a bun or flower on the side. The metal part goes into the handle and there is a spot coming out on the other end to fasten it in place which was only done on early pieces. The fork is in great condition with wear to the gilding. It is 6.25 inches long of which 3.125 inches is the length of the visible porcelain handle. The porcelain is not marked or shall we say visibly marked since it would be hidden by the ferrule which is normal but it is definitely made by Meissen. I have three more matching forks if anyone is interested in a set of these. 18th century antique cutlery Griff utensil If you like my goodies have a look at my other sales for a lot more top maker pieces.
