Authentic 1808 hand-colored copper botanical engraving, No. 1126, originally published in The Botanical Magazine founded by William Curtis. Illustrated by Sydenham Edwards (Syd. Edwards Del.) and engraved by F. Sansom, with the original publication line dated August 1, 1808.
Beautifully presented with a decorative hand-marbled paper mat, ruled borders and gilt frame. The original label on the reverse identifies it as “Curtis Green – Hand-Colored Copper Engraving” and states that the print was hand-colored at the time of publication.
Frame measures approximately 13” high × 10” wide. Attractive antique condition with age-appropriate toning and minor wear. Frame and matting show light wear consistent with age. Please see photos for condition.
