An extremely finely turned and detailed antique oval antique frame in a deep and rich dark chocolate color!
Extremely detailed hand turned and incised detailing - exquisite! Circa. 1790-1820.Very finely turned wood ( either Mahogany or Walnut), with concentric and concave interior ( frame shapes inwards ( like a bowl ). Sorta a shadow box like effect. The frame’s depth is an 1 inch and helps draw the eye inward towards the art.The frame is turned from a single piece of wood!Frame measures 6 1/2 inches in height x 4 3/4 inches at the width ( midsection), the opening visible “sight” is 3 1/2 inches x 2 3/4 inches and the rabbet is 4 1/8 inches x 3 1/8 inches.
Features original old hanging ring with much patina. Remnants of an old paper backing on verso. Original old wavy period glass.
Items of this fragile nature are most carefully wrapped and packed, and double boxed, and fully insured. Thus, the listed postage.
