Beautiful antique Swiss hand-carved wooden angel or cherub wall plaque, believed to date from the early 20th century. The figure has an expressive hand-painted face, curled brown hair, upward-looking blue-gray eyes, and sweeping wings and robes finished in aged gold leaf or gilt paint.
The reverse retains an early metal picture hanger and an applied plaque reading “J. Strässle Luzern,” connecting the piece to Lucerne, Switzerland. The visible wood grain, individual carving marks, naturally aged surface, and timeworn gilding give it authentic Old World character.
Measures approximately 5 inches tall by 4 inches wide. Good antique condition with expected patina, scratches, surface wear, and areas of loss to the gold finish. A small hole is present on the reverse. No obvious major breaks are visible.
