Antique Victorian 1880s–1890s Cobalt Blue Two-Piece Dress – Bodice & Skirt Lace For Sale

Absolutely stunning antique Victorian two-piece dress ensemble, acquired from a local estate sale. This is one of those pieces that is even more incredible in person.The ensemble includes the fitted bodice/jacket and matching full-length skirt in a striking cobalt/royal blue fabric with contrasting navy and gold floral velvet/brocade-style panels.The fitted bodice features a beautifully structured, pointed silhouette with extensive interior construction and boning/stays. The front is heavily detailed with gold floral textile panels, numerous decorative metal buttons and dramatic scalloped blue edging. Antique lace trims the high collar and cuffs.The matching skirt is exceptionally full with beautiful pleating and draping, coordinating floral panels and layers of dark pleated trim. The back of the bodice has gorgeous shaping and a pointed waist that creates the classic late-Victorian silhouette.Based on the silhouette, materials and construction, this piece appears consistent with late-19th-century Victorian clothing, approximately 1880s–1890s. I have not had the garment professionally authenticated, so the exact age and fiber content are not guaranteed.This is an antique textile and shows age-related wear, discoloration, loose threads, repairs/alterations and other imperfections consistent with a garment of this age.
