Antique Late Victorian Cast Iron Curtain Rod Finial – Neoclassical Palmette Design (c. 1880–1895)
Beautiful and substantial solid cast iron curtain rod finial (or curtain weight/pull) from the late Victorian period.
Design:The top features a finely detailed neoclassical palmette (palm-leaf) motif – a popular decorative element in bourgeois interiors around 1890, just before the rise of Art Nouveau. The symmetrical, classical design is typical of the high-quality decorative cast iron produced in the final decades of the 19th century.
Age & Origin:Produced during the industrial peak of decorative cast iron manufacturing (England, France or Germany). The casting technique, visible mould lines and overall form are characteristic of the period 1880–1895.
