Antique Victorian High Profile Gesso Frame ~ Original Condition For Sale

Ornate Victorian frame.This beautiful antique frame features gesso flowers and leaves built on a wood core. The highlights of the gesso is a copper color with a dark patina background. It has its glass and velvet liner (with wear). Frame measures 2\'\' thick, 14-3/4\'\' high by 12-3/4\'\' wide and will hold a 7\'\' by 9\'\' photo in the back. The velvet liner is about 9/16\'\' thick. The sight or image area with liner is 8-1/2\'\' by 6-1/2\'\'.Heavy for its size, this frame weighs over 4 pounds. The ornate gesso itself is in very good original condition with no damage, but there is some gold wear on the base wooden edges (see photo 3). The burgundy velvet liner has deteriorated and there is just mostly material left(see photo 5).The frame has been taken apart, glass cleaned and the backing and hanging wire replaced. The photo inside this frame had a paper matte that has torn from age, as seen in photos. This is a striking, dramatic frame that can be used vertically or horizontally.
