Up for sale/sale is a beautiful, authentic late 19th / early 20th-century antique Victorian reverse glass tinsel painting featuring a vibrant folk art floral bouquet.Dimensions: The outer faux-burl frame measures approximately 9.5 inches wide by 13.5 inches long.Art Technique: This wonderful piece of historic folk art features intricate black line work and rich colored enamel paint hand-applied directly to the reverse side of the glass. It is backed with crinkled metallic tinsel foil that catches the light beautifully, giving the red peonies/roses, blue accent blossoms, and green leaves a striking luminous, shimmering depth.Frame & Construction: Beautifully housed in its original period-accurate faux-tortoiseshell / faux-burl wood frame with a classic gold gilt inner liner. The reverse retains its historic paper backing layer, period hanging wire, and early framing nails showing appropriate antique wear and patina.Condition: The painting itself is in excellent antique condition with no severe paint flaking or foil slippage.
