This is an exceptional, authentic antique Northwest Coast model totem pole carved in the Nuu-chah-nulth (Ditidaht/Nitinat) tribal tradition, dating to circa 1890-1920. This historic piece is a great example of early coastal tourist-trade craftsmanship, featuring two masterfully carved stacked figures: a crest Bear on top and an accent Frog figure at the base. Comes from the historic Moore Estate in Franklin, KY.

- Hand-Adzed Backing: The reverse side of the pole retains distinct vertical ripple textures and rounded tool impressions left by a native hand adze/gouge chisel, showing genuine age contraction.
- Historic Layout Markings: Features a faint, early pencil quadrant/window grid layout mark on the upper reverse side—a classic mechanical blueprint used by turn-of-the-century carvers to map proportions.
- Aged Construction: The main pillar is secured to its blocky square base via two flush-cut iron/steel pins. Natural moisture over the last century has created distinct oxidation, wood degradation, and dark rust halos deep within the base timber.
- Patina and Pigments: Beautifully weathered polychrome paint scheme (black, deep red, and emerald green) showing rich surface oxidation and mottled dark spotting from decades of natural air exposure.
