Antique Super Rare c1890 Golf Club Headed Stick Cane Scottish Crown & Anchor Marked Cap
A Super rare and unusual vintage golf-themed cane dating from around 1890, featuring a miniature cleek-style golf club head in place of a traditional handle. This distinctive example blends sporting culture with late Victorian craftsmanship and would have served as a presentation, ceremonial, or gentleman’s club cane rather than a walking aid.
The head is forged in the form of an early iron, complete with hand-stamped maker’s symbols including a crown and anchor on one side and a stylised leaf emblem on the reverse. These marks are typical of late-19th trade stamps used by Scottish and northern English golf club makers, and they help confirm the period.
The shaft is made from polished mahogany or similar hardwood, straight and tactile, with a warm aged surface and a steel ferrule at the base. At approximately 65cm in length, the cane fits neatly under the arm, a characteristic of golfing presentation sticks used by club captains, stewards, or members during ceremonies, tournaments, and social events.
The miniature club head, measuring just 4.5cm, gives the cane strong visual appeal and makes it a charming piece of early golf memorabilia. Items of this type were often gifted to mark achievements, anniversaries, or membership roles within golf societies during the height of Edwardian and late Victorian golfing culture.
