Fortress Keep Primary Banded Calcite – Relic of the Original Cave System
This 2 lb 4 oz specimen is a rare piece of Missouri's deep geological history. This banded material is part of the original cave system that existed before the great collapse.
Eons ago, when the original cave system came down, it left behind voids between these primary collapsed pieces. Those voids are where the later "regular" calcite groups eventually formed. This specimen is a survivor of that ancient primary structure—dense, beautifully banded, and highly reactive.
