This is the Blue Ridge Southern Potteries, Inc., dinnerware in the “Cumberland” pattern. Southern Potteries in Erwin, Tennessee, closed in 1957, and this pattern was produced most likely in the mid to late 1940s. This is a very nice coordinated set of what remains of an 80+ year-old service for 8. Each piece is hand-painted under the glaze, featuring the classic Blue Ridge stylized florals. The Cumberland pattern has a blue flower and a pink flower, each with a yellow center, green leaves, and small purple accent buds surrounding the flowers. Because Blue Ridge pieces were individually painted, no two are exactly alike, giving the set its charming, folk-art character.
This lot includes 10 oz, 5 1/8\" matching floral tumblers made by Libbey Glass for Blue Ridge Southern Potteries, rarely found with Blue Ridge dinnerware sets, and makes this grouping especially desirable for collectors and decorators. This is a wonderful opportunity to acquire a coordinated Blue Ridge set with matching glassware — perfect for display, vintage kitchen décor, or to add to an existing collection.

Condition:
- Typical of earthenware of this age, there is some light underglaze crazing on most of these pieces. The piece with the heaviest crazing is the sugar dish-external only.
- The dinner plates and the platter each show an area of light discoloration under the glaze.
- Two saucers: one tiny flea bite chip on the rim.
- One dessert/bread plate has a flea bite chip under the rim and cannot be seen from the top.
- The surfaces are glossy with no utensil wear.
- The hand-painted decoration remains vibrant.
- The tumblers have no chips or cracks and are clear and bright. The matching florals have remained crisp and bright with no wear or fading.
