Titanic: There was enough room, Rose.
Driving Miss Daisy: I just realized that she’s called Miss Daisy, but she’s a widow. Whatever. This is about an old, rich, southern lady who learned the hard way that she was too old to drive. Her son hires Hoke to drive her around. As you would expect from an 80’s movie set in the south, there was some casual racism coming from the old lady, but she finally realizes that people are all the same, regardless of the color of their skin. We actually don’t know her feelings on other ethnicities, but I’m guessing they aren’t good given this experience.
Little Women: Haven’t seen it, haven’t read it, but I’m sure it’s a decent movie. I can’t tell who’s in it because I don’t’ have my glasses on and there’s only a small picture of a woman on the side of the box.
Shakespeare in Love: I’m just now realizing that I don’t remember what this movie is about, either. The cover, I think, has Gwyneth Paltrow (before she started selling all that weird stuff online) shooting a bow and arrow? Maybe she’s going to shoot an apple off someone’s head, but that’s probably wishful thinking on my part.
Sense and Sensibility: I’m not going to be very good with these movies because I haven’t seen them. This is another old book turned into a movie. That’s all I’ve got.
Steel Magnolias: I remember that lady who’s been in a lot of stuff, but I can’t remember her name, shoots a shotgun into a tree to scare away birds and Julia Roberts dies from eating a candy bar or something.
Fried Green Tomatoes: I promise I’ve seen this one. Is it the one where a stupid kid manages to get his leg cut off because he fell under a train or something stupid like that? If so, they made everything better by frying tomatoes before they turned red.
Terms of Endearment: I think she goes crazy and boils a rabbit in a pot because the guy she’s sleeping with won’t leave his wife.
Sleepless in Seattle: I only remember the diner scene.
Pretty Woman: Julia Roberts again, in her breakout role. She’s a lady of the evening who happens to get really lucky when a rich man, who apparently can’t get any other woman so he has to pay one to go out with him, takes her in and spoils her with dresses and breaks her fingers in jewelry boxes. There are some snobby retail ladies who are embarrassed later and it all ends happily ever after.
These next four are going to be rough
Sixteen Candles: Is this the one where John Cusack holds the radio over his head and wakes up the entire neighborhood playing Peter Gabriel? Or, I bet it’s about the redhead from the Brat Pack turning 16. That makes more sense, but they still could be the same movie. Now that I’m thinking about it, it may have an annoying kid named Duckie.
Pretty in Pink: Maybe this is the one where John Cusack holds the radio over his head and wakes up the entire neighborhood playing Peter Gabriel. And there’s a prom and she wants to know if she looks pretty in her pink dress.
My Big Fat Greek Wedding: I did not see it. There’s a wedding. I don’t know if it was in Greece or they were just Greek people having a wedding somewhere else. I don’t know if there’s a fat Greek in the movie, either.
Emma: Dang it. It’s on top and I can see that this is the one where she’s holding the bow and arrow. I know nothing about this movie, but I’m going to assume she’s a professional archer or maybe a contract killer whose signature is an arrow through the heart.
