Lot of 8 pieces from a ca. 1910 German “cereal set”--canisters for staples like rice, flour, barley, etc., along with smaller spice jars. The miniature size of these pieces suggests they were made as a sample or a children’s play set. They were made in Germany and decorated in the U.S. (ergo the English names) for various department stores. The large canisters are labeled “Rice” and “Coffee” and measure 3 ⅜” high, 1 3/4” wide, and 1 ⅔” deep. The smaller canisters/spice jars measure 1 ¾” high, 1 ¼” wide, and 1 ¼” deep, and are labeled “Allspice,” “Cannamon,” “Cloves,” “Ginger,” “Pepper,” and “Nutmeg.” There are no lids, but the pieces are otherwise in excellent condition with no cracks, chips, etc. All are labeled “Germany” on the bottom.
These cereal set pieces in miniature are extremely rare! Please contact me with any questions and good luck offerding!
