Product DetailsChinese Antique, Late Ming to Early Qing Dynasties1628-1700, Kosometsuke Large plate, MushikuiDate :Late Ming to Early Qing Dynasties (1628-1700)
Material : PorcelainSize : Height 2.8cm, Width 21.3cmNote :Antique condition.Toward the end of China’s Ming Dynasty, the country had fallen into ruin, making it difficult to obtain high-quality glazes. As a result, differences in the shrinkage rates of the glaze and the clay body during firing caused the glaze to flake off. Japanese tea masters of that era observed that these chipped areas resembled marks left by insects and dubbed them “Mushikui.” They came to be highly prized within the culture of wabi-sabi. There are countless such Mushikui chips along the rim. Currently, Chinese ceramics from this period are found exclusively in Japan.About our store
