DESCRIPTION
A 19th century Chinese Qing Dynasty porcelain plate decorated in colorful Famille Rose enamels with a Hundred Antiques inspired composition. The central arrangement features a tall green vase holding lotus flowers alongside a censer or vessel and additional precious objects, surrounded by colorful ribbons and auspicious emblems. Pink, green, yellow, iron red and blue enamels create a lively composition against the pale glazed ground. The decoration reflects the traditional Chinese taste for symbolic objects associated with refinement, abundance and auspicious wishes.
COLLECTOR\'S NOTE
Hundred Antiques decoration, traditionally known as bogu, draws upon arrangements of treasured vessels, scholarly objects and auspicious symbols from Chinese antiquarian culture. Such motifs remained popular on Qing Dynasty porcelain and were frequently combined with flowers and symbolic emblems in colorful enamel palettes during the 19th century.
