I've collected Buddha figures and statues and carvings for the past 30 years. Several of them are translucent so I often like to display them on windowsills so the sunlight can shine through them. They look so lovely together.
But I'm now in my late 70s and it's time to downsize my household, including this Buddha collection:
Large carved wooden Happy Buddha on the right came from Malaysia, where I bought it on a business trip 30 years ago. I think he was my first Buddha.
I purchased the two carved flourite Buddhas on the left at Alexandria II Bookstore in Pasadena, along with the flourite Quan Yin standing next to them. She is considered a female Buddha, the Buddha of Compassion, and she adds a little feminine touch to this collection.
The dark wood Buddha in the back row was among my cousin's things and when she died ten years ago, I inherited it. Same with the carved agate Happy Buddha sitting on a custom-made wooden stand, in the middle of the bunch. Very pretty agate!
The small white carved standing Jizo with the red jewel on his forehead is a Japanese Zen Buddhist figure, the only Japanese piece in this collection. He is a bead with a hole or channel running from the top of his head through his feet, so he can be strung on a cord or chain and worn around your neck.
Can't remember where I got the amber Happy Buddha sitting in front row – but I just love his warm glow, even when the sun isn't shining through him.
Carved off-white Happy Buddha sitting next to him ... he was a gift given to me years ago by a jeweler friend in Del Mar.
And the small stone Buddha on the far right has some compacted sand in his base, but I can't remember the significance of that sand. It was explained to me when I bought it years ago, but now I can't remember.
And the pretty soft green and rust colored stone Buddha in the very front ... sorry, I can't remember where I bought him either. Too long ago.
They make a marvelous group, but if you're interested in buying just one or two, send me a message and we can discuss.
Price for this entire Good Karma Gang of Buddhas: $495
