Offered here is a remarkably well-preserved factory-sealed original 1974 U.S. pressing of Donny Osmond’s Donny, released by MGM/Kolob Records as M3G-4978.

This is an especially attractive copy for an Osmond collector because the album has never been opened or played and remains sealed in its original shrink wrap approximately 50 years after release.

Released in late 1974, Donny found Osmond interpreting a collection of classic pop, country and early rock & roll songs, including “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry,” “Sixteen Candles,” “Mona Lisa” and “I Have a Dream.” Contemporary Cash Box and Record World reviews highlighted Osmond's versions of “Mona Lisa” and “I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry,” with Record World noting the album's emphasis on 1950s favorites.

The LP is still sealed and unopened. The vinyl has never been removed or visually inspected, so it is being described as presumed Mint based upon its sealed condition.

The original shrink wrap remains substantially intact. As shown in the photographs, there is some age/storage wear to the jacket and shrink, including minor corner/edge wear and some separation/tearing of the shrink along portions of the edges. The lower-right corner has some visible wear beneath the shrink.

Despite these minor exterior issues, this is a very attractive surviving sealed copy with strong color and excellent overall presentation.

While Donny itself is not a rare album, original copies that have remained factory sealed for five decades are considerably more desirable than the plentiful played examples.

The album also represents an interesting transitional period in Donny Osmond's career. Contemporary reviews specifically commented on his maturing voice while he moved toward more adult-oriented material. The record also achieved respectable commercial success; Cash Box still had Donny in its Top 100 album chart in February 1975.
