Danish 35 Øre on 20 Øre provisional surcharge issued in 1912, catalogued as AFA 61 / Scott 80 / Facit 48 / Michel 61.
The stamp was created by applying a bold dark-blue “35 ØRE” surcharge to an older 20 Øre red and gray Danish bicolor definitive.
The issue has an interesting connection to Danish postal history. A fire at the H.H. Thiele printing works disrupted production of new stamps at a time when the postal service required additional 35 Øre values. Existing stocks of older denominations were therefore provisionally overprinted to meet the demand.
The 35 Øre provisional was issued on 1 April 1912 and had only a brief period as the current solution before the regular Frederik VIII 35 Øre stamp became available. The denomination was particularly useful for registered foreign-letter postage and certain cash-on-delivery services.

Original gum remains with some gum disturbance and age-related marking on the reverse. The stamp has a strong and clearly printed surcharge, good overall centering and generally sound perforations.
