This is a very early M1 Garand stock, which is a type 2A.The specs of this stock indicate it was paired with Springfield Armory M1Garands with serial numbers under 78,000 because there is no ordnance cartouche(crossed cannons). The cartouche on this stock features SA over SPG which wasused from serial number 81 through serial number 78,000. The type 2A stock isthe first version to be inletted to accept a type 2 hinged butt plate, thebarrel channels of this version are the longer 2.150 inches in length, and bothstorage holes in the butt stock measure 0.81 inches in diameter. This is thestock for any collector needing the correct one for his sub-78,000 serial number M1 Garand.This stock hasobviously been around awhile, but it is in very solid andserviceable condition. No wood handguards nor any metal parts areincluded.
