High-quality Colorado druzy quartz cluster with sparkling well-formed crystals, with several larger points rising above the surrounding crystal growth. This specimen has an especially aesthetic shape and displays naturally. Double-terminated quartz crystals are also present within the cluster.
Quartz forms when silica-rich hydrothermal fluids circulate through fractures and cavities in the host rock. As conditions change and the fluids cool, silica crystallizes into the characteristic hexagonal quartz crystals seen here. Double-terminated crystals develop when a crystal grows freely enough to form terminations at both ends rather than remaining attached at one end to the matrix.
