A collectible 1970 First American Edition of Roald Dahl’s beloved classic Fantastic Mr. Fox, published by Alfred A. Knopf and illustrated throughout by Donald Chaffin.
This hardcover features the distinctive beige cloth spine with green paper-covered boards, with the title stamped in green foil on the spine and an image of Mr. Fox stamped in silver foil on the front board. The book contains 62 pages plus 2 pages and is illustrated throughout with charming black-and-white drawings by Donald Chaffin.
Condition: Very Good. The pages are bright and clean overall, with occasional minor signs of handling/use. The binding is strong, square, and secure. There is light general wear to the boards and spine consistent with age and use, including a small brown mark near the lower center of the front cover. The original dust jacket is missing.
A wonderful vintage copy of an enduring Roald Dahl classic, and an interesting example of the less commonly seen green-board binding.
