Original and much sought after Fillmore East vintage used jersey and worn at the legendaryFillmoreEast in New York City for the Derek and the Dominos concerts on October 23rd and24th 1970 and worn on and off during the rest of the bands 26 dates of theirUS tour afterthey played the Fillmore East.
This jersey was given to the Derek and the Dominos equipment manager Kevin Harringtonby the stage manager of the Fillmore East when the band were performing there thatweekend.
Kevin at 15 years old started working for The Beatles manager Brian Epstein at NEMS in1966 andthen two years later with TheBeatles. Starting with them on the third day of thewhat we know as TheWhite Albumwas being recording at EMI Studios work as Mal Evansassistant,in other words a studio roadie and assistantequipment manager, making a goodpot of teaand wearing many otherhats.
Kevin can be seen in many scenes in the original1970 Let It Be and updated 2025 Get Backdocumentaries. Mostnotably during the rooftopconcert, he\'s the red headed male kneelingdown in front of John holding the song lyricsfor \"I Dig A Pony\" during the performance ofthe song in the film (see last photo).
Kevin worked with TheBeatles from The Beatles (The White Album) until their break upAbbey Road.....Their last album actually, though Let It Be came out afterwards.
In 1970 after The Beatles break up George Harrison invited Kevin to move into Friar Parkwith him. In May George started production on what was to be called his All Things MustPass album. Kevin worked closely with George during the sessions, whichincluded EricClapton, Bobby Whitlock, Carl Radle and Jim Gordon. It was at this recording sessionthat led to the formation of Derek and the Dominos.
Kevin was itching to go on the road and In the summer of 1970 he got the opportunitythrough Eric\'s tourmanager Bruce McCaskill, whom Kevin met during the recording ofAll Things Must Pass. Bruce knew that Kevin worked with the band during the sessionsso he hired him to work on the upcoming Derek and the Dominos UK tour that summerand the fall US tour, which is when Kevin was given this jersey.
Comes with a signed letter of provenance from Kevin and a program for the Derek andthe Dominos concerts at the Fillmore East.
A side note. Derek and the Dominos broke up in May of 1971 and a few months afterwardsKevin got a call fro Mal Evans asking him if he wanted to help with George\'s charity gig(The Concert For Bangladesh) in New York City. Where he worked on the rehearsals inJuly atNola Studios on 57th Street and the two incredible (I went to the evening show)concerts on August 1st. Kevin worked with Mal in what would now be called associateproducers of the concert and both are credited in The Concert For Bangladesh albumsliner notes.
The jersey is in excellent condition (see photos).The tag was removed for whatever reasonand there aresigns of where it was. I found a photo of a similar Fillmore East Jersey with afrayed tag on itjust so you can see where it was...It\'s not from this jersey.
I spent many memorable nights at the Fillmore East. It was a very special theatre,whereI was fortunate enough to witness some of the most incredible concerts that I have everseen in my life. To those that went there….You know what I am talking about :) I willnever forget that magical time, a time that we witnessed and were a part of, that we willnever seethe likes of again.
