A striking collection of 10 classic works published by The Franklin Library, Franklin Center, Pennsylvania, primarily circa 1980.
These handsome collector editions are beautifully designed, with ornate gilt decoration, gold-gilt page edges, individually designed covers and decorative endpapers. Each volume has its own distinctive color, cover design and artwork, making the collection especially attractive displayed together on a bookshelf.
Many of the volumes are specially illustrated editions, with the illustrator credited within the book.

Each book has its own distinctive decorative binding rather than simply repeating the same design throughout the set. The volumes feature elaborate gilt embellishment on the spines and covers, and several have wonderful artwork incorporated into the cover designs.
The interiors are equally attractive, with unique patterned endpapers that vary from book to book. The page edges are finished in gold gilt, giving the entire collection the classic Franklin Library appearance.
Condition
All 10 books are in excellent vintage condition and have been very well cared for. The bindings, gilt decoration and gold-gilt page edges remain beautiful.

These books have not been described as genuine leather, as I have not found binding information within the books that definitively identifies the covering material.
A Wonderful Display Collection
This is an especially handsome grouping because of the rich assortment of colors and individualized designs. It would make a beautiful addition to a home library, study, office, traditional bookshelf or classic literature collection.
