This sale is for a Garcia Mitchell 309 Freshwater Fishing Reel made in France circa 1974. The alpha-numeric serial numberstamped on the reel seat is D172206.Read below for more information on this serial number if you are interested.This reel has its original two piece red & black clam-shell box with cardboard outer cover, the yellow moulded plastic insert (this is often missing or broken), spare spool in cannister, 2 Mitchell instruction booklets, warranty card and accessories leaflet.Refer to the last 2 photos for a full list of all the technical details.

For those of you who may be interested in the Mitchell serial numbering system used between 1974 and 1983 read on. The letter \"D\" is for the year 1974 andthe fist 3 numerical digits \"172\" are for the 172ndday of 1974 based on the Julian calendar. Since 1974 was not a leap year the number 172 means the reel body was stamped and probably the reel assembled on 21st June 1974.
