If you are upgrading your Garmin NAV V/VI to a Garmin Zumo XT or Zumo XT2/XT3 GPS this locking adapter will solve your problem and allow you to mount and lock the Zumo XT/XT2/XT3 in the same place as your BMW Garmin NAV V/VI.
- You need to have a BMW NAV base as shown in the pictures and have a Garmin Zumo XT/XT2/XT3 to use this adapter.This adapter will only work for that configuration andused with the Zumo XT/XT2/XT3 Nav base that is included with the purchase of the Zumo XT or XT2 or XT3
- The BMW Motorrad base shown in the picture IS NOT included the purchase of the adapter kit. The purpose of the picture is to show what the adapter looks like installed in the BMW Motorrad NAV V/VI base that comes on most BMW motorcycles.
The BMW Adapter will fit all BMW Nav bases that had or are currently using the BMW Motorrad Nav V and Nav VI base with the lock on the left side. The adapter is currently verified on the following BMW Models:

*1300 GS Owners. The Zumo XT2/XT3 Version II is made a custom length. This makes it easier to install and there is no extra wiring to hide.
The BMW adapter makes it possible to mount the Zumo XT/XT2/XT3 in the BMW factory NAV Base and lock the Zumo XT/XT2/XT3securelyin place. Theadapter allows the Zumo XT/XT2/XT3 to be installed in the factory NAV base restoring the factory lock and retaining the factory appearance, preventing the need for aftermarket mounts on your handle bars.
The adapter kit includes the matching plug for the factory wiring harness, which is located in the right frame area. You will need to connect the supplied plug to the Zumo XT/XT2/XT3 harness utilizing the supplied crimp connectors. Once complete, the entire assembly can be connected to the vehicle ensuring voltage supply to the unit for charging and ignition control.
When complete, the Zumo XT/XT2/XT3 only sticks out an additional ½ inch towards the rider allowing full view of the instrument cluster.

With Version II, you get the original BMW adapter kit and a ZUMO XT or XT2/XT3 mounting base and wiring harness with the matching BMW plug already installed. This eliminates the need to solder or crimp the plug onto the wiring harness.This also deletes a couple of steps of the original installation.
With the XT2/XT3 the wiring harness is custom cut to eliminate the need to hide an additional 2-3 feet of wiring that comes with the basic Zumo XT2/XT3 purchase.
With the XT the wiring harness is left at the factory length.
This is also a great if you need an additional ZUMO XT/XT2/XT3 wiring harness and base so you can use your ZUMO XT or XT2/XT3 on an additional motorcycle

What is the difference between the Basic BMW adapter and Version II for the Zumo XT and XT2/XT3?
The basic BMW Adapter comes with an “L” plate that attaches to the BMW Motorrad NAV holder and allows the Zumo XT or XT2 to be locked in the BMW NAV holder like you could with the Garmin NAV V or NAV VI with the factory keyed lock on the NAV holder. The adapter kit also contains a matching BMW plug that you need to attach to the wiring harness that is included with the purchase of the Zumo XT or XT2/XT3. It requires you to crimp (supplied) or solder the wires to the Zumo wiring harness. If you have the tools and ability to crimp or solder the wires to the wiring harness, then the basic BMW Adapter kit would probably be all that you need.
With Version II of the BMW Adapter Kit, you get the The BMW Adapter described above and a Garmin ZUMO XT or XT2/XT3 NAV base and wiring harness with theBMW matching plug already installed. The wiring harness for the XT2/XT3 is cut to a custom length to match the original BMW wiring harness.This makes the installation of Version II a true “Plug and Play.” The wiring harness for the XT Version II is left at the factory length because of the power converter mounted at the end of the wire.
Version II is also great for those riders who have more than one motorcycle and want to share their Zumo XT or XT2/XT3 between two motorcycles.
