These mounts have integrated wire management clips. The clips serve 2 purposes; to pull the wires back to the wall so they are not hanging in between the lights, and to put the lights closer together without having extra loose wire.
These mounts are for mounting on a flat surface like a wall or fence. The extended mount will hold the center of the light 3\" away from the surface it is mounting to. The flush mount will hold it against the wall.
