This ensemble is fashioned of handmade high quality vintage pieces some of which were collected in the 50\'s-70\'s by a member of a Hungarian Dance performing group in 70\'s Los Angeles. The group repertoire included several traditional Hungarian dances as well as a very popular Gypsy/Roma dance; while in Hungary many of these families had lived close to the Roma community and were familiar with Gypsy music and dance.
To complete the outfit, other colorful vintage and non-vintage Roma-inspired accessories have been added.

1. A vintage handmade 60\'s Hungarian dance skirt worn by a Hungarian Dancer (traditional-style floral fabric, 4 unique rounds of colorful trim, dancer\'s color-band inside hem) 22\" long, adjustable elastic waist expands from 28\" to 44\".
2. A beige long sleeve/elastic wrist and waist blouse, embroidered cotton blend, decorative ties at neck, sz M, bust 36\".
3. A 40\'s/50\'s vintage black velvet handmade vest (34\" bust, 21\" armhole, length back neck to hem is 16.5\") with black trim and brass buttons. See photo of mending at back neck.
4. Vintage silky black/pink rose pattern waist sash/scarf, 30\"square
5. A Vintage black challis shawl/hip wrap, 30\" square
6. Jingly pink hip wrap, 11\" by 55\"

MORE HISTORY NOTES: The Los Angeles area is fortunate to have Hungarian-speaking communities with a very strong interest in preserving their culture. Families came to the US from Hungary after 1956 and formed a community with a Hungarian-language newspaper and businesses focused on Hungarian food and other goods.
These families take their heritage very seriously. Hungarian language, music and dance is extremely different from other countries in that part of the world. Part of this heritage is ethnic dance and family members of all ages formed a Los-Angeles based performing dance group for the local Hungarian community. This group is still active today.
In the 70\'s the dance repertoire included specialized Gypsy/Roma dances choreographed by Hungarian dancers who had lived near Gypsy/Roma encampments in Hungary. Sometimes these dances included dramatic athletics and/or a humorous skit using a \"Bogracs\" (chicken).
