Boeing 727-228, operated by Air France as F-BPJI. The aircraft belonged to Air France's important 727 fleet, which entered service during the late 1960s as the airline modernized its short- and medium-haul European network. Powered by three Pratt & Whitney JT8D engines, the 727-200 offered greater capacity than the original 727-100 while retaining excellent performance from relatively short runways. F-BPJI operated scheduled services from Paris to destinations throughout France, Europe, North Africa, and the Mediterranean. Air France's 727s became familiar sights across Europe before gradually giving way to more efficient twin-engine Boeing 737s and Airbus A320-family aircraft.
Boeing 727-200 Designed as a smaller, short/medium-ranged complement to the 707, the 727 was first flown on February 9th, 1963.
