This typed manuscript is a description of The Six Shooter, an early-1950s NBC radio show starring Stewart as Britt Ponsett. The Six Shooter lasted only one season and is one of his more obscure roles. A fascinating piece of Stewart\'s history.
Typed manuscript signed \"Jimmy Stewart\". 1 page, 8½x11. Titled: \"The Six Shooter\". Author unknown. Stewart is better known for his stage and film acting, but The Six Shooter represents a field that most people don\'t associate with him: radio drama. It was created and often written by Frank Burt and premiered on NBC in Sept. 20, 1953, running 39 episodes until June 24, 1954. Like the name implies, The Six Shooter was a western, with Stewart in the lead as gunfighter Britt Ponsett. According to this manuscript: \"Stewart was right in character as the slow-talk-ing maverick who usually blundered into other people\'s troubles and sometimes shot his way out. his [sic] experiences were broad, but The Six Shooter leaned more to comedy than other shows of its kind.\" Stewart (1908-1997, born in Indiana, Pennsylvania) starred in more recognized masterpieces of the American cinema than any other actor. In 1940, he won the Best Actor Academy Award for The Philadelphia Story, and he was nominated for Oscars in the same category for Mr. Smith Goes to Washington (1939), It\'s A Wonderful Life (1946), Harvey (1950) and Anatomy of a Murder (1959). Stewart, who was awarded an Honorary Academy Award in 1984, also appeared in You Can\'t Take It With You (1938), Destry Rides Again (1939), The Greatest Show on Earth (1952), Rear Window (1954), The Spirit of St. Louis (1957), Vertigo (1958) and a long list of other features. Fine condition.
