For sale is a repro first-generation Jazz Bass mute, based on early-1960s Jazz Bass mutes used before the ashtray cover was introduced. Felt offers a smoother, more natural decay than rubber foam, while preserving low-end response and playing dynamics.Measured and side-by-side compared with original early-60s mutes, 1982 Fullerton reissue mutes, and later Corona reissue mutes. It is recreated using period-correct materials and dimensions, including thickness, width, length, and the correct bending angle and radius. It is produced using high-precision fiber laser cutting with a CNC-controlled bend to maintain consistent geometry and accurate fit. Original mutes often show variation in felt length and sharp edge rounding due to stamping.
The felt strip is a high-quality material made in France and cut to 2 cm. Feel free to message for a custom length.
Although originally designed for the Jazz Bass, it can be fitted to other bass guitars as well.
Each set includes mutes, mounting screws, washers, and an installation template.
