KATO N Scale Southern Pacific SP 10-Car Passenger Set Custom Painted Red Stripe For Sale

I purchased the smooth-side cars as a completed custom set on many years ago. The original builder started with Kato smooth-side passenger equipment, stripped/repainted the cars in silver and very carefully lettered and decaled them for Southern Pacific\'s later red-stripe passenger scheme.

The custom-painted nine-car consist includes:

• 1 baggage car
• 1 RPO
• 3 coaches
• 1 dining car
• 2 sleeping cars
• 1 round-end observation car

The lettering and decal work is particularly nicely done, and the complete train presents very well. Please note that this is custom-painted equipment and is not factory-painted Kato Southern Pacific equipment.

As shown in the detailed photographs, the underlying silver paint has a somewhat grainy appearance in places, particularly on portions of some roofs. Fairly common with silver paint and I have tried to photograph this clearly so there are no surprises. Otherwise, the cars are in very nice condition with no significant damage that I have observed. They have been stored in a smoke-free home.

I\'m also including a Kato Southern Pacific corrugated-side business car that I accumulated separately and have used with the train. A previous owner added a small seated/standing figure to the rear observation platform, which is a fun detail. Please note that some of the rooftop antenna/detail pieces are missing from this car; see the close-up photographs for its exact condition.

Southern Pacific did not operate the Kato style of short dome car, so the Kato dome is not included in this set. For someone interested in developing the consist further, one of the newer prototype-appropriate SP 3/4 dome cars available separately would make a terrific addition.No original Kato boxes or packaging are included. All ten cars will be individually and carefully wrapped and securely packed for shipment.

This is a neat, distinctive train that I\'ve enjoyed owning, and looks great behind bloody-nose power, but I\'m thinning the collection and it\'s time for it to go to another Southern Pacific enthusiast.
