• A branding iron, not a stamp. The head is a heavy cast disc with the design cut deep into it, so it holds heat and leaves a mark you can actually read rather than a faint scorch.
• Long steel shaft with a turned wooden handle. The length is the point - it keeps your hand well clear of the fire while the head sits in the coals.
• It arrives in its own presentation box. Black, gold-foil printed, fitted for the iron. This is the reason to buy it as a gift: there is nothing to wrap and nothing to explain.
• What it brands well. Steak, chicken breast, pork chops, bread and buns, and wood - a cutting board, a plank, a serving tray. Anything with a firm, flat surface takes a crisp mark, and wood and bread hold the sharpest detail of all.
• What to keep it away from: burgers and other ground meat. Minced meat has no firm surface, so instead of taking the brand it packs up into the engraved grooves, and cleaning it back out of that detail is genuinely tedious. Brand the bun instead - it looks better in a photograph anyway.
• How it works. Rest the head in the grill or the coals until it is properly hot, then press and hold. Heat it longer than feels necessary - an under-heated iron gives a grey smudge, a hot one gives a clean dark brand.
• Ships free from Kansas City within one business day, and returns are free for 30 days.

This is the one gift in the shop that does not need a card. It is heavy in the hand, it comes in a box that looks like it cost more than it did, and the person who gets it will use it in front of an audience every time they cook. Need more than one? Send us a message through and we will sort it out.
