On a low-side, a car park drop or a tip-over at a standstill, the right-handclutch cover sits at the widest point of the engine, low down. It is wherethe bike lands.
What follows depends on the impact. A scrape is cosmetic. Worn through, orcracked, it is not: the cover is part of the oil-tight envelope, and a holedclutch cover puts oil on the rear tyre - the worst possible place for it.
On a machine like the H2 SX, a cover that has been scraped and filled alsolooks it, and that matters to owners of a bike at this level.

The cover seals to the crankcase with a gasket, sold separately. A usedgasket has been compressed in one position and will not reseal.
CHECK WHAT IS BEHIND IT
If the cover was holed or cracked, check before fitting the new one:
The clutch basket and plates The clutch release mechanism The crankcase mating face The oil for debris or aluminium fragments
A cover that has been worn through by sliding along tarmac sometimes letsgrit into the engine.
TORQUE THE BOLTS EVENLYAluminium covers distort if bolts are tightened in the wrong order orovertightened. Follow the torque figure and tighten in a crossing pattern,in stages.
REFILL AND CHECK FOR LEAKSRefill to the correct level and check the cover joint on the first run -and check the rear tyre is clean before riding.
